"The 2016 De Sales offers quite generous black cherries and cassis aromas on the nose, a little simplistic compared to those Pomerol estates up on the plateau, but clean and pure. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is smooth on the entry with supple tannin, well-judged acidity, a gentle grip towards the finish and a dab of truffle lingering on the aftertaste. This is a fine Château de Sales that should give 10-15 years of drinking pleasure."

"A light waft of dried herb peeks out from the gentle, rounded core of plum and cherry preserve flavors. Subtle tea and cedar notes cling to the finish, which lingers prettily. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc."

"At this stage, this wine is all about the tannins that dominate the black fruits. But fruit weight is there, promising good things as the wine matures. Smoky wood and blackberry flavors are set against a solid structure. There is potential here, so let the wine soften and mature. Drink from 2024." -Roger Voss
