“La Vigne de Mademoiselle” is one of Michel Gahier’s single-parcel bottlings of Trousseau, a red Jura variety prized for its light color, aromatic complexity, and earthy structure. The vines here are old and low-yielding, planted in marl and limestone soils just outside the town of Arbois.

Gahier farms organically, ferments with native yeasts, and ages the wine in old barrels, bottling unfined, unfiltered, and with little or no added sulfur. The style is traditional, but not rustic—there’s precision and brightness here, alongside a gentle wildness that makes Jura reds so compelling.

The 2023 vintage is especially vibrant, showing flavors of tart cherry, redcurrant, rose petal, black pepper, and subtle forest floor. The palate is light and savory, with fine tannins and a stony edge. It’s the kind of wine that rewards serving cool and pairing with simple, earthy dishes—think roast duck, lentils, or mushrooms.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Lafleur is a wild, exotic wine. Totally mind-bending, Lafleur completely defies any of the conventional definitions of Pomerol. The aromatics alone are mesmerizing. Red plum, blood orange, espresso, rose petal, crushed rocks and spice all soar out of the glass. The Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) is so expressive here. Even with all of its intensity, the 2022 remains light on its feet. There is simply no other wine like Lafleur on the Right Bank. Magnificent." -Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

"The 2022 Lafleur has turned out even better in bottle than I anticipated. Wafting from the glass with exotic aromas of mulberries, potpourri, iris, blood orange and incense, it's full-bodied, dense and layered, with a deep and multidimensional core of sweet, succulent fruit underpinned by velvety tannins, concluding with a long, expansive, rose-inflected finish. Élevage has brought a sense of harmony and classicism to the volume and richness that were already apparent en primeur, delivering a Lafleur for the ages." -William Kelley

"Very embryonic, even recalcitrant at the moment. Changes in the glass but all the components are there – gourmand fruit, plentiful but fine tannins, plush texture and better balance than Les Pensées. Firm, long, austere finish." -James Lawther MW

"A sublime wine from Lafleur in 2022 that delivers a vibrant, electric and incredibly charming wine with subtle power. A beautiful nose, inviting, generous and elegant, sweet and forward with hints of ripe fruit and roses. Sleek, sharp, direct and coursing with energy on the palate interweaving layers of dark fruits, tightly-knitted tannins, savoury spice and fresh minerality. Plum, damson, cherry, violets, floral and cool blue fruits, graphite and slate with a blood-iron tang. The edges have electricity and bite despite the clear concentration and power in-between. Long length that goes on and on. Perhaps less openly charming and generous than some at this point but this takes its time to open, carefully expanding and showing its potential. Wonderful." -Georgina Hindle
