Owned by Pierre Lurton (also of Cheval Blanc and d’Yquem fame), Château Marjosse has become a go-to for high-quality Bordeaux at a refreshingly modest price. The 2020 rouge is Merlot-dominant, with touches of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from limestone and clay soils near the Entre-Deux-Mers.

Fermented in concrete and aged mostly in used barrels, the wine is sleek and modern without being flashy. Red and black fruits lead the way—plum, cherry, a touch of spice—balanced by fine tannins, good lift, and a mineral edge that keeps it from feeling heavy.
