DeLille Cellars Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 comes exclusively from the estate-farmed Grand Ciel Vineyard, one of the most coveted sites in Washington’s Red Mountain AVA. Known for its intense sun, wind, and deep gravelly soils, Red Mountain produces Cabernets with firm tannins, deep color, and concentration—and Grand Ciel is a pristine, low-yield parcel farmed with exacting detail.

The 2019 vintage was cooler than the years immediately prior, allowing for slow ripening and excellent flavor development without excess alcohol. The wine shows black cherry, cassis, mocha, cedar, and violet, layered with hints of graphite and warm spice. Aged in 100% new French oak, it has the structure to age 15–25 years, while maintaining purity and finesse.

This is DeLille’s most cellar-worthy Cabernet, often compared to Napa’s top vineyard-designate wines or Bordeaux’s Left Bank elite—but with a distinct Red Mountain edge: power, precision, and savory grip.

Pair with grilled steaks, braised short ribs, or aged cheddar, or decant now to experience its layered complexity in youth.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 99
"Instantly impressive, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Ciel is broad, focused and fruity, with layers of seductive complexity that continue to waft from the glass. Full-bodied, impressively layered and textured, the Cabernet offers profound pleasure that sings with harmony and unison of world-class wine. Gobs of dusty dark red fruit tones give way to a lively mineral tension before juicy spiced plum and blackberry reduction somersault across the almost unending finish. It’s a fantastic wine that proves Washington Cabernet deserves to be in the private collection of serious collectors worldwide. Just under 3,700 bottles were made after the wine rested for almost two years in 100% new French oak. This is worth seeking out." -Robert Parker

"Decant if you open this glorious beast anytime soon—tannins are at peak grip. Black currants, orange peel, tobacco and cedar aromas announce the wine’s presence. Blackberry preserves on a blueberry scone deep inside a chest of cedar drawers describe the flavors."
