Philippe Viet is part of the new wave of Beaujolais growers bringing real precision and energy to the region’s often-overlooked crus. His Haute-Ronze bottling comes from a high-altitude, granitic slope in Régnié, farmed organically and vinified with minimal intervention: native yeasts, whole-cluster fermentation, no fining or filtering, and little to no added SO₂.

The 2019 vintage shows Gamay in a serious mood—ripe raspberry and cherry layered with black pepper, crushed rock, and a flicker of wild herbs. There’s freshness, for sure, but also structure and a mineral backbone that give the wine length and quiet tension. It’s supple on the surface, but with something more grounded underneath.

This isn’t bubblegum Beaujolais—it’s cru-level with soul and staying power. Serve it slightly cool, pair with roast chicken, mushroom dishes, or just let it evolve in the glass. Haute-Ronze proves Régnié deserves more than a passing glance.
