Ponzi, Pinot Noir Laurelwood District, 2021
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Ponzi’s 2021 Laurelwood District Pinot Noir comes from estate and partner vineyards planted on the fine, silty loess soils that define this AVA—the first in Oregon to be based on soil type. The style here is all about refined red fruit, soft tannins, and natural acidity, and Ponzi delivers a polished, balanced version that’s both terroir-transparent and approachable.
The wine opens with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and baking spice, supported by hints of earth, forest floor, and mineral dust. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and silky, with fine tannins and a juicy core that make it super versatile at the table.
Aged in French oak barrels (about 30% new), the wood is subtle and supportive, adding structure without overshadowing the fruit. Drink now with a light decant, or age for 5–7 years to let the savory side come forward.
Perfect pairings? Roast chicken, salmon, mushroom risotto, or even a simple charcuterie spread. This is Oregon Pinot with clarity and classicism, a great ambassador for the Laurelwood AVA.
