Terredora di Paolo, Taurasi, 2006 (1.5L)
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
This is Southern Italy’s answer to Barolo—but with volcanic swagger. Terredora di Paolo’s 2006 Taurasi in magnum is hitting a sweet spot: nearly two decades old, softened around the edges, but still showing all the structure and depth that makes Aglianico such a powerhouse grape.
Taurasi is often called the “Barolo of the South,” and in this bottle, it makes sense: dried cherry, leather, black tea, and smoky spice wrapped in tannins that have mellowed into something grippy-but-smooth. There’s earth, there’s iron, there’s depth—and in magnum, everything’s aging even more gracefully.
The 2006 vintage was a strong one in Campania: warm, but balanced, giving Aglianico the ripeness it needs without losing its edge. And Terredora di Paolo—long one of the region’s most reliable producers—lets the terroir do the talking. No flash, just classic winemaking, long aging, and a whole lot of volcanic character.
Perfect with braised meats, aged cheeses, or anything hearty and rustic. Or just open it with friends who appreciate a good backstory and a well-aged red that still has some muscle left.
