What is this wine?
Château Fonbadet is a family-run estate in the heart of Pauillac, Bordeaux, located near some of the Médoc’s most famous classified growths (Mouton Rothschild, Latour, and Lynch-Bages). The estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon–dominant blends typical of Pauillac, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot playing supporting roles. The 2015 vintage was a strong year across Bordeaux, producing ripe, generous, and balanced wines.
Why get this wine?
For lovers of Pauillac, Fonbadet offers classic Left Bank character at a fraction of the price of its prestigious neighbors. The 2015 is entering a beautiful drinking window now: complex, structured, and polished, but with the hallmark cassis, graphite, and cedar notes that define the appellation. It’s a chance to drink true Pauillac pedigree without the classified growth price tag.
What does this wine taste like?
Full-bodied and elegant, with blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, layered over cedar, tobacco, graphite, and earthy spice. Firm but ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, savory finish.
When should you drink this wine?
Perfect now through the early 2030s. Decant for 1–2 hours before serving with grilled lamb, roast beef, or hearty mushroom dishes.
