Over three generations, Heitz Wine Cellars has helped define modern-day Napa Valley. Founded in 1961 by the late Joe Heitz and his wife Alice, the winery has built a reputation for producing world-class wines of distinction, including one of Napa’s benchmark Cabernet Sauvignons, the Martha’s Vineyard; a wine that James Laube from Wine Spectator has referred to as one of California’s “grands crus.” During that 50 year span not much has changed at Heitz. Stylistically the wines have remained true to what made them world famous in the 1970s; powerful and concentrated but balanced with a vibrant nature and structure that allows them to age gracefully for decades. That structure and elegance is a Heitz trademark.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 92
"Tightly knit and backward, the 2002 Martha’s Vineyard offers hints of black cherries, black currants, earth, new saddle leather and spice box. Full-bodied, dense and concentrated as well as high in tannin, this youthful effort no longer reveals this cuvee’s famous eucalyptus aroma, but it does not lack for power, richness or aging potential. Drink it over the next 20+ years." -Robert Parker
