An NV Stunner From Champagne's Best House: Roederer Collection 244
The NV Collection 244 is gorgeous. Bright and focused, with a lovely cut, the 244 is immediately captivating.

Louis Roederer is a singular champagne house. Since its found in 1776 (!), they have tended vineyards and made wines that have graced many tables of history.
Driven by an intense dedication to quality, and inspired by the terroir expressive wines and dedicated vineyard work of the Grower Champagne movement, in the late 90s, chef de cave Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon and the team at Roederer made the bold decision to transition their vineyards to organic and biodynamic viticulture.
Today, they are the largest organic land holder in Champagne, farming well over 100 hectares of certified organic (and many biodynamic) vineyards. This was and remains today a noble and radical position. While other Grandes Marques focus on volume and marketing, Roederer has invested in the vitality of their vineyards, the safety of the workers, and the health of the planet. But it was not simply an ethical choice. Lécaillon sees climate change as a huge threat, and organic and biodynamic practices allow them to harvest extra mature grapes earlier in the season.
This commitment has paid off deliciously, in one of the very best non-vintage wines on the market, Roederer Collection. Today, we are excited to offer Collection 244: a blend of 41% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 26% Pinot Meunier. The majority of the blend (54%) is from the excellent 2019 vintage; the remainder is from a perpetual reserve started back in 2012. It's an unadulterated luxury you can feel good about indulging in.
Louis Roederer, Champagne Brut 'Collection 244', NV $72.99
Galloni's full review: "The NV Collection 244 is gorgeous. Bright and focused, with a lovely cut, the 244 is immediately captivating. Dried pear, chamomile, herbs, mint and crushed rocks abound. Based on the 2019 vintage with 36% perpetual reserve wines from vintages 2012-2018, this vibrant, wonderfully crystalline Champagne impresses from beginning to end. Saline notes extend the finish effortlessly. Dosage is 7 grams per liter."
