The 2022 Anne et Hervé Sigaut Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru “Les Chatelots” is a captivating and refined Pinot Noir that showcases the elegance and charm of Chambolle-Musigny. Anne and Hervé Sigaut, known for their meticulous vineyard work and focus on terroir expression, craft wines that highlight the purity and delicacy characteristic of this prestigious Côte de Nuits village. The “Les Chatelots” vineyard, a small Premier Cru site, benefits from its ideal position on the mid-slope, with limestone-rich soils contributing to the wine’s finesse and vibrancy.

In the glass, this wine displays a brilliant ruby hue. The nose is complex and aromatic, offering layers of red cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, interwoven with floral notes of rose petals and violets. Subtle hints of sweet spices, such as clove and cinnamon, and a touch of earthy minerality add further depth. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and impeccably balanced, with silky tannins and lively acidity framing its juicy red fruit core. The wine’s texture is smooth and elegant, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish with whispers of savory herbs and spice.

The 2022 vintage, marked by warm and consistent conditions, imparts a ripe and approachable character to this wine while preserving the freshness and precision that define Chambolle-Musigny. This Premier Cru pairs beautifully with roasted duck, herb-crusted lamb, or mushroom risotto. While enjoyable now for its youthful vibrancy and polished texture, it has the potential to age gracefully over the next 10–15 years, gaining additional complexity and nuance. Anne et Hervé Sigaut’s “Les Chatelots” is a quintessential expression of Chambolle-Musigny’s elegance, offering both immediate pleasure and long-term sophistication.

Domaine Sigaut makes Chambolle for Chambolle-lovers. Organic farming from flowering to harvest. Natural-yeast fermentations, light extractions and minimal oak influence. A light touch throughout.

The Sigauts have very good terroir, though not much of it. Their seven hectares include old vines in fantastic Premier Crus, like their seventy-year-old Sentiers vines. Their old vines dig deep into the limestone mother rock responsible for so much of Chambolles’ character. No wonder the wines are as profound as they are subtle.
