Paraje Altamira is one of Mendoza's most exciting new GIs (Geographical Indications), located in the Uco Valley at elevations above 1,000 meters. The area is known for its alluvial soils—ancient deposits of rocks and gravel washed down from the Andes—which force vines to struggle for water and nutrients, producing smaller berries with intense concentration. Finca Suarez sources from these high-altitude vineyards to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon that balances the variety's classic structure with the freshness that only these extreme conditions can provide. The 2024 vintage shows dark fruit intensity alongside bright acidity and fine-grained tannins, with a mineral undertone from the stony soils. This is modern Argentine Cabernet at its most compelling—power and elegance in equal measure.
