A second Santo Stefano from the Giacosa cellar, this time from the warm, generous 2007 vintage. Where the 2004 emphasized harmony and freshness, the 2007 leans into richness and power—the warm growing season produced ripe, approachable Nebbiolo with softer tannins and seductive aromatics, while crucially cool nights preserved the acidity that gives Barbaresco its structure. This is a white-label release—standard production, not Riserva—yet at Giacosa's level, the quality is transcendent. Santo Stefano's clay-rich soils in the commune of Neive produce powerful, mineral-driven Barbaresco, and the 2007 shows rich red fruits, rose petals, exotic spice, camphor, and cedar character. The wine was initially aggressively tannic and mineral in youth, but has now softened into a compelling expression of mature Nebbiolo. Drinking beautifully with continued life ahead.
