"Monforte d'Alba. Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Impressive depth and concentration on the nose without going overboard. Becomes more minerally the longer it sits in the glass. More brooding than Vigna del Gris and with hints of oak. Polished, lush, juicy cherry fruit with finely ground tannins. A long fruit finish with the perfect dose of ripe tannins. (WS)"

Nebbiolo from a single, historical vineyard located in the Ginestra cru in Monforte d’Alba
Vines were planted in 1971, 1983, and 1988
Ideal south-facing exposure (“sorì”)
Elevation is between 340 and 360 m above sea level with south facing exposure
Soils are a mixture of sand, silt, and clay
Hand-harvesting begins in mid October
Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel for 12 to 15 days
Aging in French oak barrels
First vintage was 1982
Between 800 and 1000 cases produced annually
