Arnot-Roberts' Gorgeous Trousseau is the New California Icon We Need
Among the classic cult wines of California, we have a favorite that's especially refreshing, unique, groundbreakingly innovative, and elegant. It's also pure fun, joyful and somehow one of the most affordable — when you can get it — of them all. How is this possible? Because it's Arnot-Roberts' Trousseau, one of the new-wave California icons that has never lost its touch.
This wine has always held a special place in our hearts, even as Arnot-Roberts have gained critical renown for their Pinot, Syrah and other better-known varietal expressions. Their Trousseau somehow encapsulates everything we love about their philosophy, reflecting Duncan Arnot and Nate Roberts' love of old-world French classics while telling a story all its own as it echoes the savory wines of the Jura along with a zesty California burst of fruit. And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that as Thanksgiving approaches, Arnot-Roberts' Trousseau is a five-tool player for every holiday table.
The 2023 has just landed and it's so good, a sample bottle that found its way to our team last week disappeared in minutes. This vintage went deep, blessing us with amazingly long late-season hangtime and beautiful fruit development as a result. Vinified with whole clusters and aged for 11 months in older, neutral oak barrels, it's as transparent, lifted and energetic as ever. The one thing that’s changed is nowadays there’s never quite enough to go around, but we snatched up all we could to bring you today's great deal.
Arnot-Roberts, North Coast Trousseau, 2023 $45.99
Captivating translucent dark magenta-hued and bursting with crunchy red fruit, crushed herbs, and mouthwatering acidity, this is the pure distillation of the Arnot-Roberts' freshness-focused winemaking.
