Burlotto's history dates to 1850, when Commendatore Giovan Battista Burlotto established this Verduno estate. Monvigliero is often called "the Grand Cru of Burgundy in Barolo" for its unmistakable elegance—fine, delicate, ethereal rather than powerful. The 2008 comes from foot-crushed, 100% whole-cluster fermented Nebbiolo on Marne di Sant'Agata soils (55% clay, 30% sand, 15% limestone). Strawberries, cherries, garrigue, game birds, oregano, cedar, rose petals. Suave tannins, rock-solid core, very long finish. Drinking window: 2020-2060. Historic pedigree, transcendent terroir.
