"The 2019 Barolo Ginestra Vigna del Gris is another terrific wine from Conterno-Fantino. Crushed flowers, cedar, pipe tobacco, mint, dried flowers and worn-in leather give the 2019 striking aromatic presence. Here, too, Fabio Conterno has done a terrific job in taming the Monforte tannins. The Gris never has the completeness of the other crus, but in 2019 it is positively striking." -Vinous

Sourced from ‘Vigna del Gris’, a single, historical vineyard located in the Ginestra cru of Monforte d’Alba.
Planted in 1978 and 2000, the vineyard enjoys a southeastern exposure
Elevation of 300 – 320 meters with south and southeast exposures
Soils are characterized by sand, silt and clay
Hand harvested beginning the middle of October
Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for 12 – 15 days
Aging in French oak
First vintage was 1982
500 to 700 cases produced annually
