Jérôme Bretaudeau of Domaine de Bellevue is one of the Loire’s most exciting low-key innovators, known for pushing boundaries in Muscadet country. Theia blends Chardonnay and Melon de Bourgogne, both raised in amphora and concrete, resulting in a white wine that hums with energy and texture. The 2023 vintage feels especially taut and expressive—clearly Loire, but with a twist.

Lemon zest, green apple, and pear skin lead into layers of crushed seashell, flint, and a subtle oxidative edge from the élevage. There’s grip and salinity on the finish, but also a softness that rounds it out. This is a wine for acid-lovers and texture-seekers alike—pair it with oysters, raw scallops, or hard cheeses and let it open up in the glass. It’s not trying to imitate Burgundy or Muscadet—just doing its own thing, beautifully.
