Second wine of Grand Cru Classé Domaine de Chevalier. Estate origins documented in 17th-century archives as "Chivaley" (Gascony for "knight"). Owned by the Bernard family since 1983. 65 hectares total across Pessac-Léognan. L'Esprit blend: 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc. Biodynamic farming began with 2021 vintage; red wines certified biodynamic in 2024. Gravelly soil with black sand over clay and hardpan.

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fleshy, lively and detailed, with a dash of white pepper toward the finish. This is another delicious, classically styled Pessac-Léognan. Located south of Bordeaux in Léognan, this estate makes both serious reds and compelling whites—rare in Bordeaux, rarer still done well.
