What is this wine?
Julien Guillot of Clos des Vignes du Maynes is a trailblazer in biodynamic and natural winemaking in Burgundy, with his family estate farmed chemical-free since 1954. Les Crays is a Bourgogne Rouge from vineyards in Cruzille (north of Mâcon), planted to old-vine Pinot Noir on limestone and clay soils. The site’s name, “Crays,” refers to the stony terrain that gives the wine its lifted, mineral edge.

Why get this wine?
Guillot’s reds are cult favorites, valued for their purity, energy, and authenticity. While Burgundy prices soar, Les Crays offers real Pinot character—bright fruit, finesse, and terroir expression—from a respected grower at a far more approachable price. It’s a perfect way to experience natural Burgundy without breaking the bank.

What does this wine taste like?
Light to medium-bodied, with red cherry, raspberry, and cranberry fruit lifted by floral notes, spice, and a touch of earth. Silky tannins and fresh acidity give it a lively, elegant finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Best 2024–2029. Serve slightly cool to highlight freshness. Ideal with roast chicken, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, or lighter cheeses.
