Moutard’s Champagne Grande Cuvée Brut NV, with a base of 2021, is a classic and approachable blend that captures the character of the Côte des Bar region. Made primarily from Pinot Noir, with a smaller portion of Chardonnay, this cuvée embodies Moutard’s dedication to traditional winemaking practices. The Grande Cuvée is vinified to highlight the expressive fruit, richness, and balanced structure of the grapes, with a Brut dosage that enhances its versatility and crowd-pleasing appeal.

On the nose, this Champagne opens with aromas of ripe apple, pear, and a touch of citrus, accompanied by subtle notes of toasted brioche and almond. The palate is well-rounded and vibrant, featuring flavors of orchard fruit, lemon zest, and a hint of pastry. The fine mousse and balanced acidity give it a refreshing finish, with a touch of minerality that adds depth.

This Champagne is wonderfully versatile, pairing easily with dishes like seafood, roasted chicken, or creamy cheeses. The 2021 base adds a youthful freshness, making Moutard’s Grande Cuvée Brut a great choice for both casual enjoyment and celebratory occasions, offering a well-rounded and inviting profile that appeals to a broad range of palates.

Moutard

Founded in the 1600s, this house on the far southern edge of Champagne specializes in the production of Pinot Noir from an ideal terroir featuring a mix of clay and bands of kimmeridgian limestone.

The wines are vinified in a traditional manner and emerge from the cellars with lovely aromas of red fruit, supple texture and a long, lingering finish. Moutard puts out impressive values across the board.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
