Chartogne-Taillet is one of the great grower-producers of Champagne, crafting wines that highlight the unique soils of their home village, Merfy, in the Montagne de Reims. Cuvée Sainte Anne is their signature bottling, a reflection of the estate’s meticulous farming and deep-rooted commitment to terroir. Based on the 2021 vintage and blended with reserve wines, this Extra Brut Champagne balances freshness with depth, making it a perfect introduction to the Chartogne-Taillet style.

This is not a high-dosage, fruit-forward Champagne—Sainte Anne is all about clarity and texture. The blend, typically dominated by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, delivers crisp green apple, lemon zest, and pear, layered with toasted almond and a chalky minerality. The low dosage (typically around 4g/L) keeps the wine taut and vibrant, while extended lees aging adds richness without weighing it down. Compared to more opulent Grand Marque Champagnes, Sainte Anne leans into energy, purity, and place.

An excellent apéritif Champagne, it also pairs beautifully with oysters, sushi, or creamy cheeses. While beautifully balanced now, this bottle will also evolve over the next few years, gaining further depth and complexity. A must-try for fans of precise, terroir-driven Champagne.

After a stage with Antoine Selosse, Alexandre Chartogne returned to the family estate and turned it upside down. He spent years experimenting and tinkering with every aspect of Champagne making from vine management to vessels. He's landed back where he says his ancestors started: in the vineyards, growing perfect fruit and aging in neutral oak.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
