Micro-production Pessac-Léognan from just 6.5 hectares between Haut-Bailly and Malartic Lagravière. Sylvaine Garcin-Cathiard purchased this dilapidated property in 1996 and completely rebuilt it; her daughter Hélène now manages. 50% Merlot, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon on clay and gravel soils, south-southwest exposure. Fermented in small stainless steel vats, malolactic in barrel, aged 18 months in 100% new French oak. Only 500-600 cases per vintage. Unclassified in 1959, but neighbors include some of Graves' finest. The 2005 is fully mature.

Antonio Galloni

92 points

"Very good saturated deep red. Cherry, plum, smoke and warm earth on the nose, lifted by spices and menthol. Fat, sweet, lush and impressively concentrated; comes across as more powerful but less pliant today than the 2006, with a firm tannic structure for a wine from this property. Not at all over the top; in fact, this gives the impression of a lower pH than the 2006 today. May be even better than it's showing now." —Stephen Tanzer

Robert Parker

96 points

"This small jewel of a property owned by the Garcin family has been making great wine for a number of years, with the only problem being its very limited availability. Their beautifully deep 2005 has a dark purple color and displays charcoal, blackberry and cassis fruit, with some smoky barbecue notes in the background. This full-bodied, opulent wine is still youthful at age 10, and promises to continue to evolve for another 15-20 years. Pure and stunning, this is a great wine of the vintage." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Jancis Robinson

"Dry, fresh, zesty, and transparent. Really appetizing and interesting."

Wine Spectator

91 points

"Aromas of crushed blackberry, tobacco and wet earth follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a clean, fruity finish. There's lots of chocolate, vanilla bean and fruit in the aftertaste."

Tasting Profile

Mature and complex with dark fruit, tobacco, and secondary notes. The palate shows mineral character, refined tannins, and spice leading to a long, complex finish.
