Benjamin Leroux made his reputation as régisseur of Domaine du Comte Armand before launching his own négociant house in 2007. Unlike most négociants, Leroux works directly with organic and biodynamic growers, managing vine cultivation to ensure quality from the start. La Pièce Sous le Bois is Meursault's highest premier cru at 330 meters—a chalky, marl-rich site that produces wines of exceptional minerality and tension. Some vines here reach 60 years old, providing concentration and depth. Leroux's signature philosophy: great wine is grown, not made. Expect precision, breed, and terroir clarity.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2023 Meursault-Blagny La Pièce Sous Le Bois 1er Cru has good intensity on the nose with lifted yellow plum and jasmine scents. Hints of walnut come through with aeration. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity, remaining harmonious and poised with apricot and peach notes toward the finish. This is similar to the Narvaux but has a little more panache." -Neal Martin

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
