The 2014 vintage represented a different moment for Burgundy—a warmer, riper year that still maintained the acidity and brightness the region demands. The Lafarge expression from this vintage shows the versatility of both producer and site.

The 2014 Volnay Vendanges Sélectionnées displays a stunning nose with sweetly ripe black cherries and a very lovely wine with a core of freshness—the cherry theme continuing on the palate. At 12 years old, the wine shows more fruit ripeness than the 2013 but maintains that same structural elegance. This is a wine for those who prefer riper, more fruit-forward Burgundies without sacrificing the terroir expression and finesse the region is known for. The biodynamic farming shows in the wine's vibrancy and complexity. The 2014 was an exceptional vintage for red Burgundy, and Lafarge's expression captures the year's generosity. The southeast-facing parcels benefited from the warm vintage conditions. Perfect for current drinking or moderate cellaring.

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
