"The 2001 Nairac has a curious nose of lavender and potpourri plus touches of peppermint that rather obscures the terroir profile and/or sense of typicité. The palate is well balanced but straightforward, offering tangy marmalade and quince and a touch of spice, yet it does not quite kick on toward the finish, which is missing some complexity." -Neal Martin

"The Château Nairac 2001 has quite an intense bouquet with dried quince, nougat and hazelnut aromas, slightly more oxidative than its peers and yet still attractive. The palate is well balanced with spicy notes on the entry, well-judged acidity and a lovely marmalade-driven, harmonious finish. This is aging very well and should offer another 10 years of pleasure, possibly more." -Neal Martin
