What is this wine?
Dominique Lafon, long recognized as one of Burgundy’s great winemakers, produces a small range of wines under his own label in addition to his legendary work at Domaine des Comtes Lafon. Champ Gain is a premier cru vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet, situated high on the slope above Folatières, with thin, stony soils that yield particularly mineral, tension-driven Chardonnay. The 2023 vintage produced wines of balance and clarity, with ripe fruit framed by freshness.

Why get this wine?
This is Puligny at its most precise: elegant, mineral, and finely etched. Dominique Lafon’s touch brings remarkable finesse and depth, even from a relatively discreet site like Champ Gain. For collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts, this is a rare opportunity to experience a highly limited cuvée from one of the region’s most talented vignerons.

What does this wine taste like?
Bright and chiselled, with citrus, white peach, and green apple layered over chalky minerality. Subtle hazelnut and spice add depth, while the finish is long, saline, and vibrant.

When should you drink this wine?
Beautiful already for its clarity, but best from 2026 onward as it gains texture and complexity. Can age gracefully for 8–10 years. Ideal with fine seafood, poultry in cream sauce, or delicate vegetable dishes.
