Dr. Bürklin-Wolf’s 2022 Riesling Estate Trocken is a beautiful expression of dry Riesling, showcasing the balance of fruit, freshness, and minerality that the Pfalz region is known for. With its lively acidity and clean, precise flavors, this wine captures the essence of classic German Riesling while offering a modern, dry twist.

The nose is bright and aromatic, with citrus zest and green apple taking center stage, while a subtle touch of stone fruit and white flowers adds complexity. On the palate, the wine is crisp and dry, with the bright fruit balanced by the mineral backbone that defines the region’s terroir. The finish is long and refreshing, leaving a lingering impression of citrus and a delicate minerality.

This Riesling pairs wonderfully with seafood, grilled vegetables, or light poultry dishes, making it versatile enough for various occasions. Ready to enjoy now, this wine also has the structure to age, evolving and gaining complexity with time.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 90
"The 2022 Riesling is picked mainly in Wachenheim and Ruppertsberg with a little Deidesnheim. About a third was fermented spontaneously in Doppelstück, the rest in stainless steel, partly spontaneous, partly with their own isolated yeast strain. The nose initially is a double take of apple juice: intense, fruity, bright, then a hint of yeast follows, settling on pear and lemon. The palate has real tension and freshness. It's salty, apple-juicy and concentrated, yet bone-dry with proper tension."

Robert Parker

RP 90
"Bürklin's 2022 Riesling Trocken opens with a clear, fresh and stony/mineral nose with herbal and flinty terroir-driven notes. Juicy, intense and with good mouthfeel, this is a round and aromatic, well-structured and persistent Estate Riesling with a seriously long and intense, firm finish."

German Wines

Is there a better grape than Riesling? Is there a better value? Its fruit purity, its perfume, and its mineral nuance are all unparalleled. And for centuries, the top German Rieslings were priced accordingly: at least as expensive as the top red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. But nowadays you could spend a lifetime exploring Germany’s great Riesling-producing regions while staying well within your budget. You might take an occasional break to try Germany’s other white grapes or perhaps a glass of Spätburgunder (the local name for Pinot Noir). It’s time to get started!
