Antoine Lienhardt has built a reputation for producing pure, terroir-driven Burgundies that overdeliver for their appellation. His 2023 Côte de Nuits-Villages ‘Emphase’ is sourced from old vines in Comblanchien, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges, where limestone-rich soils contribute both finesse and structure to the wine. Lienhardt’s minimalist approach—native yeast fermentation, gentle extraction, and aging in older oak—allows the terroir to shine with clarity and elegance.

Juicy raspberry, wild strawberry, and black cherry lead the aromatics, accented by crushed violets, black tea, and a hint of forest floor. The palate is silky yet vibrant, with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity lending energy and length. Compared to more structured Nuits-Saint-Georges wines, Emphase leans into accessibility and charm while still retaining depth, making it a fantastic introduction to Côte de Nuits reds.

A natural match for roast duck, mushroom dishes, or charcuterie, this 2023 Côte de Nuits-Villages ‘Emphase’ is delicious now with a slight chill but will continue to develop beautifully over the next 5–7 years. A refined, site-driven Burgundy that showcases Lienhardt’s meticulous craftsmanship.

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
