The Clos Rougeard connection—when Anatole de la Brosse purchased this historic Loire estate in 2018, he brought in Michel Chevré and legendary Nady Foucault as consultants. Trézellières comes from old vines on clay-limestone hillsides in Parnay, the heart of Saumur-Champigny. Two years in barrel (10-20% new) develops sophistication while preserving the vibrant Cabernet Franc character. Black cherries, cassis, cigar wrapper, menthol, cedar—a rock-solid core with fine-grained tannins and remarkable purity. This is Loire Cab Franc elevated to its highest expression.Cult Mosel Auslese. Old vines (1912-1985) on Devonian slate. Basket pressed, barrel aged. 9 years old—peach, apricot, honey, bright acidity.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The 2019 Trezellières is starting to throw off its primary fruit and its shoulders are starting to relax. It is a focused wine that offers fine chalky texture that coats the mouth and leaves you feeling sated. The scented finish is long, drawn out and elegant, providing sinew and tension where you want it. Shows excellent promise." -Rebecca Gibb MW

Robert Parker

RP 93
"With an oaky, toasty bouquet, the 2019 Trezellières from Domaine des Closiers reveals aromas of spices, ripe dark berries and flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, sappy and enrobing texture with structuring tannins, good depth at the core and a delicately austere finish. It fermented in tanks with malolactic fermentation in barrels and matured for 24 months in new barrels, complemented with one year in bottles before release. Although this wine doesn't quite match my personal taste and might not fully capture the essence of its terroir, it stands as a testament to impeccable technical management and could improve with three or five years in the cellar." -Yohan Castaing
