The pure pleasure wine—designed for food and youth, not serious cellaring. Cheverny is one of Loire's youngest appellations (1993) yet boasts winemaking heritage to the 6th century. François Cazin is its most consistent producer, consistently earning top honors at the Loire Valley wine show. This blend of Pinot Noir (destemmed, 8-10 day maceration) and Gamay (whole-cluster, 15 days) is fermented with native yeast in cement, creating fresh, vibrant wine with cherry notes and subtle spice. Light-bodied, bright acidity, meant to be drunk young and slightly chilled. This is wine's first job: pure pleasure. Perfect for summer terraces and casual entertaining.

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

65% Pinot/30% Gamay/5% Côt. From estate vines averaging thirty years old on clay-limestone soils, sustainably farmed and harvested by hand. The varieties are vinified separately: each is fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and without sulfur. The Pinot Noir and Côt are destemmed and fermented separately; they are aged separately in used oak. The Gamay undergoes a whole-cluster, semi-carbonic maceration and is aged in tank. The wine is blended and bottled in the spring after the vintage with a small amount of sulfur.

Our collection celebrates the region’s great diversity, with the mineral-driven whites of Muscadet and Sancerre, the beautiful Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs from villages like Vouvray and Chinon, and natural wines from everywhere in the region. Sometimes wonderfully fresh and gulpable, sometimes serious and age-worthy, the prices are always very reasonable.
