Chateau Belair-Monange, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, 2020
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Château Bélair-Monange 2020 blends Merlot (approx. 90%) with Cabernet Franc, sourced from the estate’s prime hillside and plateau vineyards above the village of Saint-Émilion. The soils here—limestone and clay-limestone—lend the wine both structure and aromatic lift, while meticulous farming and élevage under the Moueix team deliver a wine of refined power.
The 2020 shows vivid notes of black cherry, violet, crushed stone, plum, and dark chocolate, framed by silky tannins and a backbone of fresh acidity. There’s a wonderful interplay between ripeness and restraint, making this both age-worthy and already expressive in youth.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, and aging occurs in French oak (often 50–60% new), with minimal intervention. The result is a wine that is both structured and luminous, with a finish that echoes the estate’s limestone identity.
Pair with duck breast, roasted lamb, or truffle dishes, or cellar for 15–30 years. This is modern Saint-Émilion at its most elegant and terroir-transparent.
