Pineau d’Aunis, the Loire’s moody, underappreciated variety, finds its greatest expression here in Renaud Guettier’s hands. Starting with just half a hectare in 2004, Guettier now stewards 6.5 hectares across 25 tiny plots, many planted over a century ago—vines with the kind of rooted wisdom that only age brings. Hand-harvested, fermented with native yeast, aged in old barrels with nothing added and nothing forced, this Coteaux du Loir wine delivers the characteristic white pepper snap of the variety alongside unexpected depth. A wine of radical authenticity from a grower who lets terroir speak without mediation.
