The 2022 Forey Père et Fils Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru “Les Perrières” is a powerful and refined Pinot Noir that captures the rugged elegance of this storied appellation in the Côte de Nuits. Domaine Forey Père et Fils, under the guidance of Régis Forey, is celebrated for producing structured and terroir-driven wines that age beautifully. The “Les Perrières” vineyard, located on the northern side of Nuits-Saint-Georges near Vosne-Romanée, benefits from well-draining limestone-rich soils that impart a distinctive minerality and precision.

In the glass, this wine displays a deep ruby hue. The nose is layered and enticing, offering aromas of ripe black cherries, redcurrants, and raspberries, interwoven with earthy notes of underbrush, subtle spice, and a touch of cedar. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with firm yet fine-grained tannins providing a sturdy framework. Vibrant acidity enhances the wine’s juicy red and dark fruit core, while notes of savory herbs, forest floor, and a whisper of graphite add depth and complexity. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with a refined persistence.

The 2022 vintage, marked by warm and consistent conditions, lends this wine a ripe and concentrated fruit profile while maintaining the freshness and balance that define the best of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This Premier Cru pairs beautifully with dishes such as roasted game, duck breast, or mushroom risotto. While approachable in its youth for its bold fruit and vibrant structure, it has the potential to evolve gracefully over the next 12–15 years, revealing further layers of complexity. Forey Père et Fils’ “Les Perrières” is a quintessential expression of Nuits-Saint-Georges’ power and finesse, offering both immediate pleasure and long-term potential.

Regis Forey makes a range of traditional, old school Pinot Noir in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. His domaine is a total of 10 hectares and includes holdings from Nuits-St-Georges to Morey-St-Denis, and include some top 1er crus in Vosne. But the wines (and Regis himself) are not flashy, and indeed they can take careful cellaring to unlock their full potential.

These are the very qualities that first drew famed importer Neal Rosenthal to the estate back in 1982. Indeed this was one of the first Burgundy producers in a portfolio that is now famous for a slew of top-notch domaines and classic wines. What drew Neal to this domaine are the same qualities that his entire portfolio exemplifies: pure, unadulterated expressions of terroir.

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

As the Chauvenet holdings move in a southerly direction, we have the pleasure of accessing wine from the regal cru of “Perrieres”, a profoundly stony site that produces a wine of great breed and class; the domaine controls a quarter hectare of this renowned lieu-dit. A wine with a fine capacity to age, a process that reveals a most complex wine of excellent balance; one of the most elegant and intellectual wines of this part of the Cote de Nuits.
