Château de Fieuzal’s Pessac-Léognan Blanc 2021 is a refined white Bordeaux crafted from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, grown on the gravel and clay soils of the Graves’ Pessac-Léognan appellation. The estate, which dates back to the 17th century and is now owned by Brenda and Lochlann Quinn, has become known for producing some of the region’s most elegant, mineral-driven whites. The 2021 vintage was fermented and aged in French oak barrels (roughly 30–40% new) for texture and depth.

Why get this wine?
Fieuzal Blanc is consistently one of Bordeaux’s great white-wine values—complex and age-worthy, yet fresh and inviting in youth. The 2021 vintage, marked by cooler conditions, yielded whites of exceptional brightness and definition. This wine delivers the aromatic lift of Sauvignon with the creamy texture of Sémillon, offering a beautiful balance of citrus, florality, and subtle oak nuance.

What does this wine taste like?
Aromas of lemon curd, grapefruit, and white peach blend with notes of jasmine, almond, and gentle toast. The palate is vibrant and layered, with fine acidity, mineral tension, and a long, elegant finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Enjoy now through 2032. Serve cool (not cold) with shellfish, roasted chicken, or creamy vegetable dishes. Will gain complexity with a few years of bottle age.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2021 Château de Fieuzal Blanc has a lovely lime, white peach and orange pith bouquet that blossoms in the glass. The palate is well balanced, with pear, red apple and orange peel on the entry, fine depth, and good acidity and bite on the finish. Promising." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"The 2021 Blanc is turning out beautifully, evoking aromas of mint, spices, peach, lemon oil and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced, it’s tense and fleshy, crystalline and seamless, with a fresh, saline and pure finish. It feels reassuringly persistent and could age well over the next two decades. This outstanding wine is crafted from 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sémillon." -Yohan Castaing

"Light nose. Lots of acidity and considerable tightness on the palate. A bit mean and tart overall. With some traces of low-temperature fermentation." -James Lawther MW

Decanter

"A lovely intense florality on the nose. Crunchy green apple and bright zesty lime on the palate with elements of brioche and lemon meringue pie. Supple and taut with both sweet and sour elements - the fruit and acidity really to the fore, but well packaged with excellent energy and overall structure. This is shaping up nicely, showing lots of promise with crispness and a salty touch to the finish."
