Domaine de L`Epinay, Muscadet Serve et Maine Cru Clisson, 2019
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
What is this wine?
Domaine de l’Epinay is a family-run estate in the Loire Valley, farming organically and crafting classic expressions of Melon de Bourgogne. This bottling comes from the Clisson cru, one of the top-ranked terroirs in Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. Clisson’s granite-rich soils and long lees aging (at least 24 months) give wines more power, depth, and longevity than standard Muscadet.
Why get this wine?
If you know Muscadet only as a crisp oyster wine, Clisson will surprise you. It shows the grape at its most serious and ageworthy, with layered texture and complexity. Domaine de l’Epinay delivers a benchmark example at a price that’s still far below Burgundy or other fine whites with similar pedigree. A must for fans of mineral-driven, terroir-focused whites.
What does this wine taste like?
Structured and elegant, with lemon, pear, and green apple framed by saline minerality, almond, and subtle leesy richness. The long granite influence gives a stony, almost smoky backbone.
When should you drink this wine?
Superb now with shellfish, grilled fish, or goat cheese, but it will reward cellaring for another 5–8 years as it develops nutty, honeyed complexity. Serve chilled.
