This wine’s bold Sauvignon Blanc flavors — fresh-cut grass, citrus and tropical fruits, a few slices of jalapeño pepper — reminded us of classic Bordeaux blanc, with a volcanic twist. Hungary might not be the grape’s native home, but we love expressions like Villa Tolnay’s for their explosive aromatics. Organically farmed, vinified mostly in stainless (20% large Stockinger barrels).
