Luca Roagna and his family have been making some of the greatest wines in Piemonte for generations, and the quality just keeps rising. Anyone will be able to respect and admire the work of Luca Roagna: no step taken in the vineyard or the winery is without complete follow-through of thought.

Standing in the middle of one of their vineyards, you almost forget it's a place to grow grapes. Grass, insects and wildlife flourish throughout the vines, which are never subjected to chemical sprays, mowing or tilling. The bio-sphere is diverse and vigorous, the soils healthy: the result is impeccably grown grapes ready to become impeccably made wine.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The 2017 Barbaresco Faset is open-knit, gracious and quite pretty. Sweet dried cherry, incense, tobacco, mint and dried flowers are all nicely lifted in this attractive, mid-weight Barbaresco. Hints of cedar, tobacco, incense and dried flowers add aromatic presence and lift throughout. The Faset is another wine in this range that will drink well with minimal cellaring." -Vinous

Wine Spectator

WS 94
"This red shows a supple texture and macerated cherry and strawberry fruit, which initially add up to a lot of pleasure. Yet there is a solid base of tannins too, a promise of this wine's future potential. Comes together on the fresh finish, where an echo of red fruit and emerging mineral elements linger."

What importer Polaner Selections has to say about this wine...

VINEYARD
Sourced from the Faset cru in the commune of Barbaresco. The parcel is owned by a friend of the family. They've been following the vineyard work there to their specifications along with the owner.
SOIL
Clay with sand - tipical of that zone.
VITICULTURE
Hand harvested. Praciticing organic.
VINIFICATION
Fermentation lasts ten days in large wood casks. They ferment with a pied de cuvee made from their indigenous yeasts. They then use the technique of submerged cap -- which can last 60-70 days.
AGING
Aged for 5 years in large, neutral oak.
