One of nine legendary single-vineyard Barbarescos from the cooperative that elevated the entire appellation—founded in 1958 when the village priest gathered 19 growers to survive economically. The Pajè vineyard spans 1.8 hectares on limestone and clay soils formed 70 million years ago through marine sedimentation. Southwestern exposure and proximity to the Tanaro River create wines of distinctive freshness and structure. Aged 30+ months in large oak. This represents the "feminine side" of Nebbiolo: powerful yet refined, higher acidity preserving freshness through decades. 94+ points CellarTracker average. Built for the long haul.

Antonio Galloni

"One of the highlights in this range, the 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Pajè is also one of the most classic of these 2011 Riservas. Beams of underlying acidity and minerality give the flavors considerable thrust and brightness. Sweet mentholated notes wrap around a core of plush, red-fleshed plum and pomegranate fruit, leading to a brisk, refreshing finish. What is left to say? The 2011 Pajè is absolutely gorgeous. It's as simple as that. Pajè is one of the cooler micro-climates the Produttori work with, and that was a help in 2011." -Antonio Galloni

"Broad and savory, boasting cherry, leather, tobacco, wild thyme and eucalyptus notes. A sweet fruit essence offsets the dense tannins, while the finish stretches out. Excellent length."

"Bold and full bodied, this opens with rather subtle aromas of chopped herb, dark-skinned berry and a whiff of star anise. The ripe palate is more expressive, doling out black raspberry, juicy morello cherry and baking spice set against a backbone of noble tannins."
