What is this wine?
Ronchi di Cialla is a family-run estate in Friuli’s Cialla Valley, founded in the 1970s and dedicated to native Friulian grapes. Among their most prized is Picolit, an ancient, low-yielding white variety traditionally used to make rare sweet wines. Picolit is notorious for producing tiny quantities of grapes due to poor pollination, making every bottle precious. Ronchi di Cialla ferments and ages it in oak, crafting one of Italy’s most authentic expressions of this historic wine.

Why get this wine?
Picolit is one of Italy’s rarest dessert wines—once favored by European nobility—and Ronchi di Cialla is one of the few estates still producing it in its traditional form. The 2015 vintage, aged in 500ml format, offers concentrated fruit, honeyed depth, and balance. For collectors or those seeking a unique sweet wine experience, this is a bottle of both history and rarity.

What does this wine taste like?
Golden and complex, with apricot, dried fig, and candied citrus layered over acacia honey, almond, and subtle spice. Sweet yet lifted by acidity, finishing long and elegant.

When should you drink this wine?
Superb now but will cellar gracefully for 15–20 years, developing deeper nutty and caramel notes. Pair with blue cheeses, foie gras, nut-based desserts, or sip on its own as a meditative digestif.
