Named for the Gallego word meaning 'rebel'—the nickname of founder Pedro Rodríguez's grandfather—the winery lives up to its name when you see where these vines grow: nearly vertical slopes along Spain's Sil River, where viticulture is less a profession than an act of defiance. Old vines produce a white wine in a region famous for reds, fermented in steel with no oak, no malolactic. Primarily Godello with native varieties most Spanish wine lovers have never encountered, it's mineral, tense, and unapologetically local. A window into what serious Ribeira Sacra winemaking actually tastes like.

"The 2024 Blanco is composed of 70% Godello, 20% Treixadura and 10% Albariño, primarily from Quiroga in the Sil Valley. It opens with lime, gentle apple, a floral touch and a hint of peach. "The 2024 Vino Blanco is young and slightly reductive, medicinal and herbal. It was produced with a blend of 70% Godello and 30% other whites—Treixadura, Albariño, Torrontés and Loureira—from different plots in different villages with different soils, expositions and altitudes, trying to replicate the whites from the past, which were always blends. It's quite fruit-driven, with white fruit and flowers, herbs and a note of bay leaf. It is juicy and lively, with good ripeness, 13% alcohol, a medium-bodied palate with very good freshness and balance and a bitter twist in the finish. 15,000 bottles produced.
