Bertrand Gautherot left the Paris fashion world—he'd designed for Chanel and Dior—to return home to Buxières-sur-Arce and transform his father's vines into one of Champagne's most uncompromising estates. Certified organic and biodynamic since 1998, Vouette et Sorbée was a pioneer in the Côte des Bar, and Gautherot didn't release his first domaine bottles until 2004, encouraged by his friend Anselme Selosse. Fidèle—meaning "faithful"—is pure Pinot Noir from the lieux-dits Fonnet and Briaunes, fermented in oak barrels and aged twenty months on the lees with zero dosage. The R22 designation indicates the 2022 base vintage, disgorged in January 2025. Without any added sugar to mask or smooth, every nuance of terroir is exposed: expect a wine that is powerful, complex, and built for the table. This is Champagne stripped to its essence—vinous, savory, and utterly alive.

"The NV Brut Nature Fidele is a pure Pinot Noir. Freshly baked sourdough rye crumb combines with ripe apple flesh on the nose. The palate brings even more apple creaminess, sourdough pepper and springiness. This mellow Pinot Noir is taken to its salty extreme, enticing, mouth-watering with an acidic backbone that will make this last for years. This is resonant and rounded, with a lovely salty, appetizing finish that greatly benefits from the zero dosage."
