Osamu Uchida grew up in Hiroshima at his parents' wine shop, where he developed an affinity for French wines. He moved to France in 1999 to study viticulture and enology in Bordeaux, and in 2015 he found a tiny 0.6ha parcel in the village of Cissac-Médoc, west of Pauillac and St Estèphe, where he organically farms Cabernet Sauvignon. His goal is to revive the natural wines of the past that reflect his appreciation of nature, as well as the craft of winemaking.
Another wine never before imported to the states. This is a non-vintage blend of Cabernet and Merlot. Probably the most obviously ‘natural’ tasting wine in the lineup, but clean. There’s a little reduction, then notes of licorice and lavender. Juicy, and ready to go, especially after a brief decant.
