Stella di Campalto has earned a cult-like following for her biodynamic farming, minimal intervention winemaking, and wines that feel more channeled than made. Each vintage, she may bottle different parcels separately, depending on how they express themselves—and “Bacia”, meaning kiss in Italian, is one such vineyard.

The 2019 vintage was cool and relatively classic by recent standards, offering wines with tension, aromatic lift, and longevity. In Bacia, that translates to a wine of rose petals, wild cherry, red plum, crushed herbs, and volcanic earth, carried on a frame of fine, graceful tannins and long, pulsating acidity. There’s a sense of stillness and clarity here—a Brunello that feels less sculpted and more revealed.

In magnum, the wine evolves slowly, preserving its vibrancy and gaining additional nuance with time. While it can be enjoyed now with a long decant, it will truly shine over the next 15–25 years, revealing layer after layer of complexity and soul.

A genuine gift to the drinker, Stella tends to age her wines even longer than most old-schoolers, and as a result, they are often more ready to drink. It only takes one bottle to recognize that these are soulful wines.

"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Bacia is deep and complex, mixing black cherries with cedar box, autumnal spice, mentholated herbs and a dusting of cocoa. This speaks in bass tones, with dark, saturating red fruit and minerals excited by a core of brisk acidity and a balsamic tinge that defines the close. It finishes with tremendous length, staining and intense, leaving a primary concentration of cranberry and blackberry to mingle with sweet tannins. The 2019 Bacia is a bombshell beauty.
