Densely packed blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors slowly flesh out and become spicier and more lively through the back half. Powerful tannins add grip to a strikingly long, smoky finish that emphatically repeats the mineral and spice notes." -Vinous

"Spicy char notes on the nose. In the mouth its full-bodied and ripe but not excessive, really mouthfilling and full of energy. Intense and concentrated with powerful tannins. It's fairly potent in alcohol for a 2020, but the overall effect is balance, freshness, purity and length. Domaine Lionnet is one of the unsung heroes of Cornas, and an organic estate."

From a southeast-facing one-hectare parcel of selection massale Syrah, planted between 2008 and 2011, in the vineyard of Saint-Pierre at 380 meters altitude. The combination of high altitude and pure granite soil (hence the name) yields a taut, racy Cornas of remarkable focus and mineral purity. This offers penetrating spicy aromatics and intense stoniness on the palate, with a sense of real concentration that is remarkable given the vines’ youth. This energetic and vivacious wine offers a slightly more easygoing counterpart to the Lionnet’s “Terre Brûlée” Cornas.
