"Has good weight of fruit, though no huge concentration like in other vintages. Ends on quite firm tannins, but they have a certain suppleness compared to the harsher green tannins elsewhere in Cornas this year. Classic style, with grip and presence that should age with interest, though will always be one for fans of a more ascetic Cornas style. Whole-bunch fermented, from 100-year-old vines grown in Reynard."

VINEYARD
Perfectly situated vineyard recently purchased from uncle, Robert Michel. 4 hectares of Syrah originally planted in 1910. The "y" in La Geynale is a nod to the 20-30% Reynard blended into Genale.

VITICULTURE
Prunes to only four bunches of grapes per vine (the norm is between five and seven) which concentrates the vines' growing power and cuts down on the need for green harvests.
VINIFICATION
90% whole cluster at low temps, vinfied 2/3 in barrel and 1/3 in tank
