The Domaine Roulot Meursault 1er Cru Clos des Bouchères Monopole 2013 is a singular expression of Meursault, crafted by one of Burgundy’s most celebrated white wine producers. This monopole vineyard, exclusively owned by Domaine Roulot, is situated on the eastern side of Meursault and benefits from a cooler microclimate and stony limestone soils. The 2013 vintage, a cooler and later-ripening year, is renowned for producing wines of incredible precision, vibrant acidity, and aromatic complexity.

In the glass, this wine is both delicate and profound. Aromas of green apple, Meyer lemon, and white peach are underscored by floral hints of acacia and chamomile. With time, subtle layers of almond, wet stone, and a touch of saline minerality emerge, reflecting the Clos des Bouchères’ unique terroir. On the palate, it is taut and energetic, with a seamless integration of bright acidity and a creamy, yet restrained, texture. The finish is exceptionally long and detailed, leaving an impression of chalky minerality and citrus zest.

Presented in a 1.5L magnum, this wine is perfectly suited for extended cellaring, allowing it to evolve and reveal even greater depth and complexity over the next 10–15 years. It pairs beautifully with dishes such as butter-poached lobster, seared scallops, or a classic sole meunière. The Domaine Roulot Clos des Bouchères Monopole 2013 is a masterpiece of elegance and terroir, embodying Jean-Marc Roulot’s dedication to producing white wines of unparalleled clarity and refinement.

The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his fathers success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

"A more elegant, airy and slightly cooler nose displays notes of citrus, rose petal, essence of almost and a hint of jasmine tea. There is an equally good sense of refinement to the ultra-pure and more obviously mineral-inflected flavors that culminate in an understated, clean and beautifully focused and balanced finish that is positively Zen-like in its sense of harmony. This and the Porusot beautifully demonstrate the two extremes of the Meursault 1ers as they contrast power and punch with elegance and finesse. Note that while these are qualitative equals they could hardly be more different."

"Pungent minerality on the nose and palate gives this wine an exhilarating light touch. Supple and refined, this lovely Meursault gained in sweetness as it opened in the glass, showing a honeyed quality to go with its saline minerality. Finishes very smooth and long, with noteworthy lift." -Vinous

"The 2013 Meursault Clos des Bouchères 1er Cru seemed taciturn in the glass at first, but opens up and revels in its mineralité that is very expressive here, one of Jean-Marc's most transparent wines. The palate is medium-bodied, slightly waxy on the entry with fine acidity, intense but one of the most brooding, especially coming after the Poruzots. The finish has a slight tang of seaweed on the aftertaste. It will certainly need three or four years in bottle."
