97 points—twelve 100-point scores from one of Napa's most legendary vineyard managers. David Abreu's precision farming methods, perfected through work with Harlan, Bryant, and Screaming Eagle, have become industry standard. Robert Parker named him among the "most influential wine personalities of the last 20 years." The Madrona vineyard's poor clay-rock soils concentrate explosive intensity—inky dark fruit, chocolate, leather, mocha. Under 500 cases. At 16 years, entering its prime.

Antonio Galloni

98 points

"Abreu’s 2010 Madrona Ranch (magnum) is so impressive. I don’t think I have ever tasted an Abreu wine from magnum. This is certainly a great, great start. The 2010 impresses with its explosive energy and sheer intensity. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, plum, leather, mocha and spice all saturate the palate." —Vinous

Robert Parker

98 points

"The 2010 Madrona Ranch, which David Abreu told me he crop-thinned by at least 50%, is a more backward, tannic, brooding wine at present. An inky/purple color and lots of baking spice, espresso, black and blue fruits, and hints of graphite and toast emerge from this wine as well as formidable tannins in the finish. However, the tannins are sweet and well-integrated in this big, blockbuster effort."

More about Abreu Vineyard

David Abreu basically rewrote the book on viticulture in Napa Valley, and by the late '90s Robert Parker called him the "premier viticulturist" for premium grapes. When he finally started bottling under his own name, he focused on four single-site Cabernet Sauvignon blends from St. Helena and Howell Mountain—sites he knew inside-out. The track record is almost insane: twelve 100-point scores from Parker, and one of those 1995 blends beat Bordeaux in a blind tasting. Serious juice.
