"The 2001 Barolo Riserva Bricco Boschis Vigna San Giuseppe is wonderfully precise and vibrant right out of the gate. Still tightly wound, the 2001 is so fresh. It’s a great example of what 2001 has to offer at its very best. Cedar, tobacco and floral tones lead into a core of bright red fruit. Brisk acids pull it all together on the close. "Cavallotto's Bricco Boschis estate covers some 25ha of vineyard, and Vigna San Giuseppe is the southwest-facing amphitheatre just below the winery in Castiglione Falletto. It has a broad, spicy nose with aromas of seasoned oak and dried red fruit. The palate is juicy and ripe, with dark chocolate-coated fruit flavours and an underlying savoury, earthy tone sustained by fine, silky tannins and remarkable overall balance. Though drinking well now, this will go on for years yet."
