"Good red-ruby color. Superripe aromas of plum, mocha and graphite. Silky-sweet, deep and broad, with terrific concentration of currant and licorice flavors complicated by leather, herbs and pepper. "Possibly one of two of the most concentrated St.-Juliens (Léoville Las Cases is the other), this 2005 shows wonderfully sweet tannin, a dense ruby/purple color, and lots of crème de cassis, licorice and spice. "This often-overlooked St-Julien property turned in a lovely effort in 2005, with pronounced blackcurrant fruit aromas laced with pepper and baking spice. Oak aromas still stand out, but the nose is knitting together very well. The 75% Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 15% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new oak casks delivers a supple yet dense texture and good length."
